My painting is always personal and direct. According to my inclination, the modern pictures are closer to me than the old masters. I think that nowadays photography can represent objects much better and more realistically than painting ever can. Nevertheless, painting is superior to photography in one respect: it can depict errors, depict the unreal and the illogical.
